Before I underwent the stomach banding surgery, I was feeling out of control as far as my weight was concerned. Being so overweight contributed to a poor sleep routine which made my problem worse. I slept a lot during the day and spent most of the night awake, and due to low exercise levels associated with this routine my weight problem increased. Being a diabetic, my sugar levels were extremely high and also varied to extreme lows on some occasions. With the problem of added weight and variable sugar levels, I also experienced periods of depression, which led to my GP prescribing medication for aspects of the situation.
I decided to investigate stomach banding surgery as I had spent years experimenting with diets and other medications with no results. I considered this operation as a last resort. I researched on the Internet to find out what side effects or problems were associated with the procedure and also knew someone who had already undergone the surgery. My family GP was then able to recommend me to a surgeon.
When I went to hospital and had the operation, I was surprised at how short the stay was. The surgery itself was very quick and unobtrusive. Afterward, I had very little pain and a speedy healing period. Now I have been able to eliminate most of the drugs I was previously taking. I am only on half the amount of insulin for my diabetes and am able to better control my sugar levels. With the weight loss I have been able to adjust my routine and increase my exercise rate improving my overall wellbeing. I am extremely satisfied with the results and would definitely recommend it to those seeking a process that works.
