Snacking between meals and after work has, over the years, just stacked on weight. After the birth of my second daughter the kilos just crept up and up, I had tried all the diets and even gone to Weight Watchers, none of which has worked for any length of time. I began to have major problems with my knees and hips’; breathing was difficult, sleep impossible the list goes on and on. Diabetes is a problem in my family, especially on my mothers side, with all this stacked up against me I felt it was time to get serious about doing something permanent.
Bilio-Pancreatic Bypass surgery seemed to be the answer. It took approximately 6 weeks of tests and second opinions before a surgery date was fixed. Afterwards, with a positive attitude, all went as was expected, I was able to leave hospital a day early and so begin learning how to cope with a small stomach and an inability to consume fat for evermore.
Weight loss has been at a terrific rate, with friends, especially overweight ones, seemingly unable to cope with my success. This has been one of the downsides along with having to buy lots of clothes over such a short period of time. However, after two years things have settled down, I now enjoy going out for a meal, although sometimes I have to ask for a doggy bag to take home left over’s that I just cant fit in. I now enjoy walking to work, not feeling tired all the time and even being able to do housework in half the time it used to take me and not feeling that I need to rest afterwards.
The one big thing that I have discovered along the way is that being thin does not make you happy!
